Eagle Forum of California

Fourth Annual

Education Conference

“A Nation at Risk”

February 5, 2005

Radisson Hotel, Sacramento, CA

Are you concerned about what your child is learning or not learning in our nation’s schools?  Why is it that the United States continues to come in almost last in international testing in math and science?  Why do many of our high school graduates not even know even elementary U.S. history facts and can barely read on a 3rd grade level? Could these inadequacies in education pose a risk for our nation perhaps as great as or greater than a major war as the following quote states?

“The inadequacies of our systems of research and education pose a greater threat to U.S. national security over the next quarter century than any other potential conventional war that we might imagine.” The U.S. Commission on National Security, February 10, 2001

“A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved.  It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.”  Benjamin Franklin
